McCafe to open 100 stores in 4 years in India

 

MCcafeIndia is becoming a hub for international coffee brands. 3 years back it was Starbucks and now its McCafe. McCafe is one of the verticals of McDonald’s.  McDonald’s came up with Store-in-store (SIS) to introduce McCafe in India 18 months ago. McCafe has 18,000 outlets globally. McCafe had launched its first outlet in Bangalore. According to various sources McCafe will be competing with Starbucks stores in India.  Starbucks has tied up with TATA to enter into India. Starbucks opened its first store in Mumbai in 2012.  There is 50:50 joint venture between Starbucks and Tata Global Beverages.

Sources have also reported that McCafe menu items are priced lower than Starbucks. Within the span of 18 months, McCafe has come up with 41 restaurants in Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Nashik and Bangalore.  Hardcastle Restaurants has taken the master franchise of McDonald’s in southern and western markets. Now the company will aggressively promote McCafe in India. The company is planning to open 100 McCafe stores in 4 years.
