British brand Superdry planning to bring 20 stores in India

British clothing brand Superdry is looking ahead enthusiastically to bring up 20 new stores in India. With an aim to set its presence tightly in Indian markets, the company has come into partnership with Reliance Brands in the mid of last year.

Inspired by vintage styling and Japanese graphics, the brand has seen international growth, with a presence across mainland Europe, US and some parts of West Asia. The retailer is best known for its branded tees and hoods that are ubiquitous in the UK.

Though Superdry is still evaluating an entry into China, a country which is usually the first point of entry for global brands to the emerging markets,James Holder, founder of Superdry, said the company chose India over China, given its cultural fit.

The company has signed a 20-year licensing deal with Reliance Brands, the longest agreement with any partner in India.
Reliance Brands, the wholly-owned arm of Reliance Industries, is to open seven stores for the brand in a short span and is targeting tier 2 cities. The company will market their wares on the digital platform.
