Burg, the manufacturer of watch phones, will inject Rs 100 crore into its Indian operations over the next few years to deepen its presence by way of setting up company outlets, kiosks and support mechanism. The Dutch brand, which at present has seven franchisee outlets across Kolkata, Delhi, Guwahati, Bhubaneshwar and Lucknow has lined up plans to set up 200 sales point by the end of 2013, as per the company reports.
The company is aiming to target cities such as Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Pune, Chennai, Bangalore, Hyderabad, Gurgaon, Chandigarh, Delhi, Kolkata, Jaipur, Lucknow and the north east region, for expansion purpose.
“We expect India to be one of our top five markets, because the country is still economically growing and has huge young population. India will be given a preferred country status by Burg. We plan to invest about Rs 100 crore in phases for next five years,” he said. The company will focus on setting up a channel by following a distribution model, which will comprise of the state distributor, city distributor, franchisee, shop-in-shops and kiosks, service facilities. Franchisees and kiosks, which will be exclusive Burg outlets, Koen Peters, international sales manager for BURG said.
