Timex watches catching eyes in India

Timex watches are becoming increasingly popular with consumers in India.

According to the company, it has been steadily working to expand its retail base in the country to tap into this lucrative market, the Times of India reports.

This, it said, has enabled it to double its number of Indian stores from 55 to 116 in just two-and-a-half years.

Timex plans to build on this further by opening more establishments in Thiruvananthapuram,
Kottayam and Kozhikode, so it looks like its timepieces will continue to become more common fixtures among people in the nation.

Angelique O’Brien, head of retail and fashion brands at Times Group India, said the brand is mainly expanding in metros and tier-I cities, with ten shops in Delhi and 13 in Bangalore at the moment. And a new outlet in Kochi at Lulu Mall means it now boasts 36 stores in the south of India alone.

This is good news for fans of the brand wherever they may be located, as its success might fuel the rollout of even more inspiring and innovative timepieces. So, there could be much more choice on offer in the next few months.

Timex has already just unveiled a brand new GPS-enabled watch that has been designed specifically with runners in mind.

Wearers of the Ironman Run Trainer 2.0 can easily measure their heart rate, distance, speed and elapsed time, so it can be a great aid to training that helps athletes reach their optimum targets.

The timepiece is an updated and more compact version of the existing Ironman Run Trainer 1.0 watch – which already contains an enviable selection of features to help runners hit peak performance.

Sam Martin, senior brand manager of sports at Timex, commented: “We heard from the running community that they wanted a smaller, more comfortable GPS watch.

“We are excited to deliver on that need with the upgraded Run Trainer 2.0, enabling more efficient training through advanced technology.”
