Food product ideas starts from the kitchen. Food is an idea which, many people pursue as a business. It is the most innovative way to earn the spiced up profits in the industry. While some of us keep chewing on ideas for business ventures, there are those who carve a niche for themselves by establishing food & beverage businesses catching the latest trends, these companies are flourishing by trying something different.

In an interview with Ms.Soumya Bhasin, who runs a successful food and beverage business . We came to know a lot about the company, its franchise network and its success story.

Start by telling us why have you picked this sector, and how has your journey been so far?

I have been passionate about food from a very young age. I remember, as a child, spending my Sundays cooking with my father in our kitchen. We’d lay out the meal for our family and they’d finish all of it in one sitting. So when I finally decided to pursue my passion and open Mumbai Xpress, it was no surprise that my parents and siblings were supportive of my endeavor.

The journey, like any other, was rough at the beginning. It was due to my team and our loyal customers that we’ve reached a place where we’ve ultimately stabilized and are doing well.

What is the USP of your brand? Where do you see yourself in next 5 years?

Our USP is the Pure Vegetarian North Indian Cuisine that we present and have curated with a twist for our customers in Bangalore. The idea was to present people with North Indian food done right in South India. We take it one step higher by ensuring that our spices are unique. We make them at home. Preparing our own spices is what adds the authentic taste that you’d get only at our restaurant.

In the next 5 years, we are looking at expanding base to cities around India. We want our food to be accessible to more people around the country while staying true to our simple and homely nature of preparation.

How long was the business operating before it became a franchise network and how long has the business been franchised?

We started our business about 4 years ago and it’s been 4 months since we stepped into the franchising sector and have successfully setup one franchisee in Bangalore apart from the one we own.

What are your expansion plans in the near future?

I am looking at setting up franchisee outlets as well as a cloud kitchen concept for Home Deliveries only. Our plan is ready we are waiting for the right opportunity to launch the same.

What are the criteria for choosing a franchise and what are your expectations out of it?

Food business runs well if the person has a passion for food and he/she is willing to give all his time to setup the business. If there is passion, the zeal will be there to run it and make it a success.

How many franchise locations did you open at first and what is the current number of outlets you have?

We have 1 franchisee outlet and 1 main outlet at the moment in Bangalore.

  Please conclude your success story?

If you are passionate about something, go out there and pursue it. Trust yourself and if the intentions are right then you’ll go a long way.
