Mr. Mukesh Ambani, India’s richest man with a worth of over $50bn has signed an agreement to buy Hamleys from China’s C Banner International which had acquired it in 2015. Ambani was already handling 88 Hamleys stores in 29 states out of the 167 in totality all over the world. In his race against Walmart and Amazon, Ambani now holds a global footprint (which he lacked) post buying Hamleys. He now holds 167 stores across 18 countries.
Including the brands Burberry, Armani and Jimmy Choo, Ambani has included Hamleys into his list of accomplishments. He is currently engaged in dominating India’s retail market.
