Tell us about yourself and what made you to start a Bakery business?
I come from fashion business family , so fashion was literally in my blood . I did my fashion designing from Pearl Academy, Delhi and and went on to do Fashion Buying and merchandising from London College Of Fashion. I have worked in the family business in London for 4 years .
Got married in a wonderful supportive family . I am a Mother of a little princess who is very comfortable in her zone . I wasn’t a great cook but could manage to give my family something they enjoyed . I was no professional baker . Just like every mother , i only baked for my daughter who was a really bad eater . And then started a beautiful Fairytale called Healthy Bakers . Fairytale because i feel its too good to be real … touchwood !
The journey of Healthy Bakers which started 4 years back has been an amazing one. ” A child in candyland “…. that’s what i felt when i started Healthy Bakers. Little did i know that my ‘baking by chance’ would eventually transform me into a professional baker. God was kind and people around me even better , who supported me in this journey .
With family support the small business got established . Won the Food Freak Award 2014 and 2015 for the best home baker – Judges choice & 1st runner-up in the ‘Best Home Baker’s’ category in Gurgaon Foodies awards 2015. Ever since there has been no looking back.
How do you think you stand out from your competitors?
Healthy Bakers specializes in all kinds of cakes and bakes … fondant , non fondant , simple to exotic flavors and also the special HEALTHY RANGE .
We have a special range of more than 35 flavors of cake which are made with 100% wholewheat egg-less and butter less and include vegetables like Ghiya , tori, beans , Spinach, Dals and fruits .
Each cake is baked in an extremely hygienic way with lots of love .
What is unique about your work and where do you see yourself in next 5 years?
We also specialize in tuning fondant based cakes to non fondant based ones with the same finish which not many bakers do …. this also makes the cake more cost effective.
Besides this we are the only ones unique flavor of healthy cakes made with vegetables like ghiya, tori ,spinach ,aubergine etc along with Gluten free range , sugar free range etc
In 5 years from today … would love to serve many many more people with our cakes.
What kind of marketing have you done for your cake studio?
I am very active on social media… at least one pic goes out everyday . When I am in people’s eye everyday, the would remember you . But word of mouth still remains no.1 tool for me .
What do you like most about heading a cake studio?
Its serves my creativity …. and I m my own boss.
What advice do you have for novice bakers?
Work hard … you are you own competition, try to be better than what you were yesterday.
